“The only way to get smarter is by playing a smarter opponent.”

- Fundamentals of Chess

Many have asked, what does it mean to be a conservative? I believe that with our own liberty and freedoms come the greatest satisfaction of the individual mindset. This was the vision of Thomas Jefferson and our beloved Founding Fathers. The ideals of pushing forward a pointed mind rather than a collective body. It is of which the best written document, our Constitution, offers dissolving of the political bands which have connected us to pursue our own greatest achievements in which we find self evident. To be the power of ourselves; body, mind, and soul. Our morality, a devotion to God, American patriotism and breath of inner harmony. In that of which Abraham Lincoln pursued even greater good. To do more of the willing kind and a cause of knowledge to undo past judgment. Conservatives believe in the individual and the ideals of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan. It is the understanding that the human soul when given the opportunities, will rise to the challenge. Limiting government will create prosperity by emboldening the entrepreneur with innovation.

We are a force, unexplainable force that when we hold a fire in our belly, the gut, we can do amazing things – call it intuition, we have it all. The power is left to each of us to figure out our path in life. When we go against it by blunting growth, it then creates stagnation and one must contribute it to a disease of the mind. Stunted growth in nature often points to elements of unnatural causes. All of these things in life, that we exhibit, whether good or bad, feelings of exhilaration or pain, leads back to the testing of our courage and convictions which drive us to do and seek more.

Stand behind your belief, back it up with facts and evidence, stay true to your convictions, and most importantly have passion and take responsibility – you’ll be surprised how far you will go.

I am often asked why I think this way and I am rather philosophical in nature, perhaps a deep thinker of my own kind. My admiration of Transcendentalist author, Henry David Thoreau, in his wisest moment of ’simply’ living provides meaning to what often becomes a complicated life: “Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb-nail.”

With this being said, we as individuals are faced with our own life choices and it is up to you to follow your own path. For me, I choose the one less traveled. For you, it may be different but whatever it is that makes your heart desire, whatever it is that you want to do with your life, do it with passion, pride, and promise.

WE THE PEOPLE:
Believe in the words of Ronald Reagan, that we are “the best last hope for man on this earth,” “a shining city on a hill,” and that our best days are before us if our Government will simply trust the American people.
